Your manuscript survives a bad connection
The last step of signing up asks the most of you, and it was the least careful with what you gave it. If the connection faltered just as your manuscript went up, it went nowhere — and the app then met you as someone who had never written anything, and asked you to write before you could read. What you wrote now waits on your phone until it has genuinely arrived, and sends itself the next time you open the app.
Better examples to learn from
The tutorial teaches by example, and the examples were poor ones. The sample manuscripts you read before writing your own have been rewritten — shorter, more particular, the kind of detail a stranger actually remembers — and the line the demonstration reaches out and marks is now one worth marking.
