Your manuscript survives a bad connection

The last step of signing up asks the most of you, and it was the least careful with what you gave it. If the connection faltered just as your manuscript went up, it went nowhere — and the app then met you as someone who had never written anything, and asked you to write before you could read. What you wrote now waits on your phone until it has genuinely arrived, and sends itself the next time you open the app.

Better examples to learn from

Better examples to learn from

The tutorial teaches by example, and the examples were poor ones. The sample manuscripts you read before writing your own have been rewritten — shorter, more particular, the kind of detail a stranger actually remembers — and the line the demonstration reaches out and marks is now one worth marking.

You're told when a payment fails

You're told when a payment fails

When a payment doesn't go through, you're told there and then — how long you have to put it right, and a way straight to your subscription. The same for a subscription that's running out, and for a pause that's about to end. Until now all three passed in silence, and you found out when something stopped working.

More room to draw

More room to draw

The page you draw on had less room on it than your screen does. Zoom in now and it opens out to the full height of the phone instead of staying a narrow strip, with a line at the top telling you how far in you are. The edge of what will be kept is marked all the way round rather than at the corners alone, so you can see when a stroke is about to run off it. And the controls along the top used to sit under the clock — they have come down.

See it on the other paper

See it on the other paper

Your readers do not all read on the same paper, and ink you chose against the dark page can look quite different on the light one. There is a sun beside the zoom now: press it to see the drawing the other way round, and press it again to come back. Your own choice of theme stays as you left it.

You're told when a match becomes permanent

You're told when a match becomes permanent

When a match becomes permanent, you are told. It happens once you and the other person have both kept writing — the countdown stops, and the conversation simply stays open. Until now that moment passed in silence and you would only notice later, if at all.
